Our Why

Naima Liggon was a radiant, fearless spirit—brilliant, creative, and deeply compassionate, with a presence that made people feel seen, valued, and inspired. She stood for authenticity, love, and the freedom to live boldly and unapologetically as yourself.

On August 27, 2023, her life was tragically and senselessly taken, leaving an unfillable space in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Yet even in loss, Naima’s light has not dimmed—it has multiplied.

The Naima Liggon Foundation exists to carry that light forward, honoring her voice, her values, and her vision by creating spaces, opportunities, and impact that reflect the very essence of who she was and all she still inspires in the world.

Our Mission

The Naima Liggon Foundation honors the life and legacy of Naima Elizabeth Liggon by empowering young people to pursue their passions, resolve conflict peacefully, and build strong, compassionate communities.

Through mentorship, education, and service, the foundation creates pathways for youth to grow into leaders who uplift others—just as Naima did in her short but impactful life.

Our Vision

We envision a world where every young person—especially young women of color—has the opportunity to thrive in safe, supportive environments. Inspired by Naima’s spirit, we work to reduce youth violence, expand access to skilled trades and education, and cultivate spaces where teens feel seen, valued, and equipped to shape a brighter future.
